Tiny Chenille Yarn from Hobbycraft – First Impressions & Review

Image
You know that feeling when you see something so tiny and adorable that your brain just goes, “MUST. HAVE. NOW!”? That’s exactly what happened when I spotted Hobbycraft’s new Tiny Chenille Yarn—one squish, and I was obsessed. I walked into Hobbycraft for “just a quick look” (we all know how that goes), and before I knew it, my basket was FULL of these little fluffy clouds in yarn form. Did I need every color? No. Did that stop me? Also no. And at £2 per skein (or 3 for the price of 2!), it was basically meant to be. First Impressions ⭐ Cuteness Factor: 1000/10 ⭐ Softness: Ridiculously squishy ⭐ Price: Affordable & totally stash-worthy Honestly, it’s the cutest little ball of yarn I’ve ever seen. It’s crazy soft, super plush, and I could immediately think of a million tiny projects to make. Ease of Use Chenille yarn has a bit of a reputation for shedding, but this one isn’t too bad! I’d give the shed factor a 7/10—a few fluffy bits here and there, but nothing major. I also put i...

ADHD and Conflict: Navigating Communication with My Husband, Kids, and Friends

Image
Living with ADHD means my brain runs at full speed—thoughts bounce around, emotions hit hard, and sometimes, I react before I’ve even had time to think. This can make communication tricky, especially in my closest relationships. I’ve had moments where I’ve blurted something out without meaning to, forgotten important conversations, or felt completely overwhelmed by my own emotions. For a long time, I thought this made me bad at relationships. But the truth is, ADHD just means I need to approach communication in a way that works for me—and for the people I love. It’s something I’m always working on, especially in my marriage, with my kids, and in friendships. Here’s how ADHD affects my relationships and what I’ve learned about handling conflict along the way. How ADHD Affects My Relationships Talking Before Thinking One of the biggest struggles with ADHD is blurting things out. My brain moves fast, and sometimes, I speak before I’ve fully processed what I actually want to sa...

The Rollercoaster of Motherhood with ADHD, Mental Health, and PMDD

Image
Motherhood is a wild ride under the best of circumstances, but throw ADHD, mental health challenges, and PMDD into the mix, and it’s like trying to ride a rollercoaster while blindfolded, holding a toddler on your hip, and balancing a coffee cup on your head. Add in a son on the spectrum (who is just as unpredictable as my emotions during PMDD) and it turns into a whole different level of chaos. Spoiler alert: I’m not actually crazy—I just have ADHD. And when PMDD kicks in, let’s just say I’ve had a few moments where I’ve considered moving to a remote island with no internet (and no kids). But hey, some days, the fact that we’re all still alive and the laundry's half folded feels like a huge win. PMDD & The ‘Other You` First of all, all I can hear is you saying, "What is PMDD?" So here a great link fir more understanding  What is PMDD? Let’s talk about PMDD—the emotional hurricane that rolls in every month without warning. One minute, I’m fine (well, as fi...

Welcome to The ADHD Hook – A Tale of Tangled Yarn, Chaos, and Questionable Life Choices

Image
Oh, hey! You made it. That means either: A) You love crochet. B) You have ADHD and got distracted on your way to do something else. C) You just enjoy watching someone slowly unravel (pun absolutely intended). Whichever it is—welcome! I’m Zoe the slightly chaotic human behind The ADHD Hook. I’m a mum of three, a wife, an ex-hairdresser of 20 years, and now a full-time yarn enthusiast. My life is a mix of tangled projects, impulsive craft decisions, and a growing gang of mischievous crochet bunnies that seem to have taken over my TikTok. If you’ve ever felt like your brain has 87 tabs open, with at least one playing mysterious background music—you’re in the right place. So, grab a cuppa, find a comfy spot (preferably one not covered in rogue yarn ends), and let’s dive into how I went from cutting hair to hooking yarn. --- From Hairdressing to Hooking (The Yarn Kind, Obviously) For 20 years, I was a hairdresser, and I loved it. The creativity, the transformations, ...
