I DID IT!
My very first crochet market — stall set up, plushies sold, and smiles all round 🧶✨
I honestly can’t stop smiling. I still can’t believe how amazing the day was. All the panic, all the last-minute making, all the stitchy chaos, so worth it.
But the best bit? I didn’t do it alone.
Hunter was my right-hand man (and total superstar), and Dave was there holding everything together like the hero he is. It wasn’t just a market stall, it was a full-on family mission. And we smashed it 💥
🧵 Prepping in Two Weeks? Challenge Accepted.
Yep — I only had TWO WEEKS to pull it all together.
But once I got going, I was in full crochet goblin mode. Hyperfocus? Activated. Yarn? Flying everywhere. Sleep? Optional. The stall came together in a blur of chenille, price tags, and “just one more duck.”
We arrived early (shock to the system), set up my jungle of plushies and handmade hooks, and honestly? It looked so flipping cute. Frogs, ducks, scream team plushies, hooks — and one very proud maker behind the table, trying not to cry with joy every five minutes.
And yes — I had my card reader ready on my phone. Pro-fesh. It made everything smooth and stress-free.
What Everyone Loved
Here’s what got the most attention (and the biggest smiles):
The mini ducks – Everyone wanted one. I should’ve brought double!
Frogs – If I had a pound for every “OMG look at the frog!” I heard…
Scream Team plushies – So many compliments and questions!
Beaded crochet hooks – People loved the feel of them (and I heard the word “satisfying” more than once)
My random box of oddballs – The “I made this at 1am” creatures were surprisingly popular
💖 The Best Bits
There were so many little moments I’ll never forget. Like:
Hunter proudly telling people, “My mum made these!”
Dave sneaking me snacks and drinks like some kind of stall-side support wizard
People stopping just to say how much they loved the colours or the display
The look on someone’s face when they picked up a plushie and fell in love with it instantly
And not one grumpy customer! Everyone was lovely, friendly, and excited to see handmade things. It reminded me why I love doing this so much.
And honestly — the other stall owners? So inspiring. Every single table was bursting with creativity, colour, and natural talent. It was amazing to be surrounded by so many passionate, kind makers who just get it. The energy in that room was something special.
🎯 What I Learned
People love frogs. It’s a fact now. I stand by it.
Texture matters – The chenille yarn was a big hit!
Having a card reader is a game-changer – It made everything smoother.
Two weeks is enough when you’ve got passion (and a little panic).
My work is good. I don’t say that lightly — but seeing people smile and choose something I made? That hit different.
💕 To Anyone Dreaming of Their First Market...
Do it. Seriously.
I know it’s scary. I know it feels like there’s so much to think about. But if this is something you want to try, jump in. Give it a go. Bring your frogs, bring your weird little plushies, bring your love for what you do — and people will feel it.
This day reminded me why I crochet. Why I share my makes. And why this little handmade business of mine makes me so proud.
Here’s to more ducks, more frogs, and even more market memories 🧶✨
