Corner to Corner (C2C) Crochet: My ADHD-Friendly Obsession
If you’ve been following me on TikTok, you’ll know that I’ve fallen head first into the world of C2C crochet—and I’m not mad about it. Whether you're totally new to crochet or a seasoned yarn wizard, C2C (corner to corner) has something magical to offer, especially for those of us with beautifully chaotic ADHD brains.
So here it is: my big ol’ blog post full of what C2C is, why it works so well for me, my current projects, tips for neurodivergent makers, and a free mini pattern at the end. Let’s dive in!
What is C2C Crochet?
C2C stands for Corner to Corner, and it does exactly what it says on the tin: you work your project diagonally from one corner to the opposite corner.
Instead of crocheting row by row, you build up little blocks (or tiles) that zig-zag diagonally across your piece. It’s PERFECT for pixel art-style patterns and can be used for blankets, squares, pillows, wall hangings—you name it.
You’ll often hear terms like “graphgan” (a graphic blanket) or “pixel crochet,” which basically means using a color-coded grid to follow your design.
Why C2C Works So Well for ADHD Brains
C2C might just be the ADHD crochet method—and here’s why:
Chunk-sized wins: Each little tile feels like an achievement. Dopamine hit? Yes, please.
Clear structure: It’s all laid out in a graph, so your brain doesn’t have to guess what’s next.
Visual satisfaction: Watching the pattern grow diagonally is so rewarding, especially for us visual learners.
Endless creativity: You can design literally anything on a grid. (I did my logo!)
Pattern switching: If you get bored easily, swap to a new mini design mid-project. It’s patchwork-friendly!
My C2C Journey (aka: The Logo Blanket of Chaos & Joy)
I recently designed and finished a C2C version of my ADHD Hook logo, and let me tell you—it was a vibe. Watching my bold pink and orange ball of yarn pop out tile by tile was the most satisfying thing. And yes, I crocheted it in a week—hyperfocus took over, and I couldn’t stop.
I made a flower-themed C2C blanket for my friend’s daughter, and it totally reignited my love for C2C.
Since then, I’ve been playing around with the idea of a bigger project—maybe a patchwork-style blanket with smaller pixel-art squares that represent parts of my life and personality.
Since then, I’ve been playing around with the idea of a bigger project—maybe a patchwork-style blanket with smaller pixel-art squares that represent parts of my life and personality.
I haven’t made a clear plan yet, but I’ve got a million ideas bouncing around my head (standard ADHD). I just know I want it to be bright, bold, and meaningful—with nods to crochet, my neurodivergent journey, and the things that bring me joy.
Tips for ADHD Crocheters Doing C2C
Here’s what’s helped me:
1. Use graph paper so you can cross off as you go (or print your pattern!)
Whether it’s a pre-made C2C chart or one you’ve designed yourself, having a paper version to physically tick off is a game-changer. It keeps your place and gives that satisfying “done!” feeling with every tile.
2. Colour code your yarn stash
Make it easy to grab the next colour—use yarn bobbins or wrap small balls for multicolour projects.
3. Break it into ‘just 4 tiles’
If motivation is low, promise yourself you’ll just do 4 tiles. Chances are, you’ll keep going once you start.
4. Stitch markers are your BFF
Use them to mark increase/decrease edges. Less thinking = smoother flow.
5. Watch a show or listen to a podcast while you tile away
Stim + task = happy brain. Bonus points if it’s something nostalgic or comforting.
