π Oh Hey July – Let’s Have a Chat! π by Zoe @ The ADHD Hook
Well look who showed up… July.
Not sure whether to give it a cuddle or a side-eye, but we move. Somehow. On a mix of caffeine, stubbornness, and whatever the opposite of a plan is.
π¬ Life Check-In: Wobbly but Winning (Kinda)
I won’t sugarcoat it—June was a lot. Pain flares, PMDD, brain fog, a full bingo card of chaos. Some days I felt like I was doing alright, and some days I felt like a deflated balloon on the kitchen floor. But I'm still here, still crocheting, still trying. And honestly? That’s a win.
I've been peeling back some emotional layers too (not by choice, thanks brain), and I’m slowly figuring out how to be softer with myself. Rest doesn’t make me lazy. Saying no doesn’t make me mean. And just because I feel like a bit of a mess doesn’t mean I’m not doing bloody brilliantly given everything on my plate.
π Birthday Week: Incoming Chaos (and Cake)
July kicks off with double birthday madness at ours:
Dave turns another year older on the 6th – he’s not much for fuss, but you best believe he’s getting cake whether he likes it or not.
Rosie’s big day is the 8th – my wild, wonderful little whirlwind is growing up way too fast and I’m not okay about it π₯Ή
So if I go quiet for a bit, assume I’m neck-deep in balloons, icing, and emotional whiplash.
π§Ά Crochet Goals: Hooks, Felt, and Hope
Here’s what I’m up to this month (when the spoons show up and the back doesn’t betray me):
✔️ Pattern Writing for The Scare Team: DONE!
I finally finished writing up the Scare Team pattern (yep, the one with Cyclops, Kitty, and Boop). All I’ve got left is making the felt eyes and getting it all printed—and then it’ll be ready to drop into your hands over the next couple of weeks! I’m buzzing for this one.
π§Ά Market Prep (Just in Case)
No market booked (yet), but my brain said “better stock up just in case” so I’ve been hooking up dumbo octos, sleepy dragons, and all sorts of yarny chaos. Gotta stay unpredictable, right?
π Freebies & Blog Bits
I’m working on another free pattern or printable for the blog soon—something fun and ADHD-friendly, like a stitchy hug in digital form. Keep your eyes peeled!
π» Zoe’s July Mantras:
Survival is enough.
I can do hard things—but I don’t have to do them alone.
Crochet is therapy, and Pepsi Max is hydration.
I’m allowed to be proud of myself, even if no one claps.
So here’s to a month of trying, stumbling, laughing, crying, and making cute stuff out of yarn like the absolute legend you are.
We’re doing July our way. Crooked crown, tangled yarn, and all.
Let’s go πͺπ§Ά
